PROJECT 9

The Daniel J. Marino Cancer Fund will be hosting our 7th Annual Volleyball Tournament on Sunday, June 24th. This year the money raised will be helping the Aubree McDermitt Family. Aubree is three years old and is currently battling Neuroblastoma. Last year, Aubree was experiencing fevers and began to calm down considerably. After a number of doctors’ appointments and trips to the ER, Aubree’s parents learned that she had Stage Four Neuroblastoma. Since then, Aubree has been in the hospital every other week with her mom. She has gone through chemo and had surgery to remove a tumor. Aubree’s six brothers and sisters stay home with family while Aubree’s Dad is still working and visiting after work. This will be a long road for Aubree and her family.

We raised a record high of $9,200 for the McDermitt Family!! Aubree is still recovering from her stem cell transplant but is getting better everyday!

PROJECT 2

In 2013, Mark Frick was chosen for the Daniel J Marino Cancer Fund to sponsor. Mark was diagnosed with Leukemia at 1 year old. In his young age, he has already gone through chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. Mark is 7 years old now, and is still battling to stay healthy. With our efforts, we raised $1,800 for Mark Frick and his family. Thank you to everyone that donated and gave their time to this event!

PROJECT 4

In 2015, Sarah was chosen for the Daniel J Marino Cancer Fund to sponsor. Early March 2014 Sarah’s family found out that she has both Neuroblastoma and Ganglioneroma. She has stage 4 and the cancer was all over her body. The doctors would have to remove some tumors with surgery before chemotherapy. Some of the surgeries were not able to be performed as there were too many tumors by her brain and skull. The latest news about 8 year old Sarah is that the tumors all over her body were recently scanned and showed no active cancer in them. She recently had her bone marrow checked and that is still positive for neuroblastoma.  She will be staying in the hospital for about 50 days to have stem cell replacement therapy and then at least another 6 months of trial treatments to see what helps Sarah the best. With our efforts, we raised $2,800 for Sarah and her family. The volleyball event was a success. Thank you to everyone that donated and gave their time to this event! Sarah is currently receiving the antibody therapy treatments. It was just recently approved by the FDA and they do not have a lot of data but the data that they do have is promising. They will run scans after every two treatments to see if it can eradicate what's left of her cancer.

PROJECT 6

DeAnna was diagnosed with Glioblastoma stage 4 cancer in 2014. She has gone through surgery, chemo and radiation. She is currently experiencing memory loss and also needing speech therapy along with more chemo and radiation. Unfortunately, DeAnna lost her battle with cancer on July 9th.

He is now faced with a new battle, Myleofibrosis, which is a type of chronic Leukemia. He has decided to have a stem cell transplant in hopes of curing his cancer, which will be an extremely difficult process. Through all of this, Stephen has been an amazing husband and father. Please help The Daniel J. Marino Cancer Fund to support this family and Stephen Burnham!

Unfortunately Stephen also lost his battle with cancer. We raised close to $6000 for the Burnham Family. This enabled Mrs. Burnham to spend more time with him and helped with the costly chemo and doctors' visits. Thank you to everyone that contributed to this  family, they are amazing people.
